Not far from the old town market in Rendsburg, the small bronze figure of the mare Hanna by sculptor Hinrich Jepsen is embedded in the brick wall. It stands on a small ledge and is framed by an inscription:
"All the stupid ones and the Klooken would come to StutenHanna. She stops all the baking with mares and kooken. And when I think of all de Tied, I've had enough of all my aspirations. The hunger is a good gift to respect the bread.”

The work is reminiscent of the historical hustle and bustle on the market square, when everyone bought bread from Hanna the mare, equally the stupid and the clever. The inscription reminds us that all our hustle and bustle ultimately only serves to fill up every day. When the sculpture was created around ten years after the bitter experiences of the Second World War, many people had already forgotten the deprivation and should be reminded in this way to be thankful for their daily bread.
