Hojerup Gl. Church – the church on the edge
The history of the church dates back to the 13th century. It was said at the time that "every Christmas night the Church brought a rooster's feather into the country." But nature caught up with the church. The sea washed away the soft chalk at the foot of the cliff and the church was abandoned in 1910 because it became too dangerous. A new church was built further from the cliff in 1913 and is a beautiful limestone building next to the tractor square in Højerup.

A large rock fall in 1928 caused the church choir and part of the cemetery to fall into the sea. The church was then secured against another collapse. Where the choir used to be, there is now a viewing terrace where you literally hang on the edge of the cliff and have a spectacular view of the Baltic Sea and the World Heritage Site.
