Hiking
in front of the post office, Rue François Mirailles, were built in the 19th century by the engineers of the
Ponts et Chaussées (roads and bridges) built.
La Darse, the larger basin, was used for mooring small boats.
La Darsine, the smaller basin on Rue François Hirailles, was intended for the pilot boat.
In 1871, the city decided to build on the land near the
Pilot station for new settlers to boost coastal fishing.
