The striking ruins of Peveril Castle stand high above Castleton and afford magical views over the Peak District. Mentioned in the Domesday survey, it is one of England's earliest Norman fortresses and was built by Henry II in 1176.

Beautiful place, there is a great view up the Cave Daley valley. Wish I had time to go round the other side for a close up view/visit.
