The GREEN bicycle bridge over Hindemith Street in Darmstadt-Wixhausen connects the section from Wixhausen train station to Aumühle on the Frankfurt-Darmstadt cycle superhighway.
The steel structure of the bridge was manufactured in two sections in northern Germany within six months and transported to Darmstadt-Wixhausen by heavy-duty transport. There, the bridge was then welded together and placed on existing retaining walls by a heavy-duty crane. The bicycle bridge is painted "traffic green," echoing the color of the cycle superhighway signs.
