Egelsbach Airport – Southern Hesse Regional District 🚴‍♂️

Frankfurt-Egelsbach Airport is located in the heart of the European Rhine-Main economic region, close to Frankfurt International Airport and centrally located in the triangle formed by the metropolis of Frankfurt and the cities of Offenbach and Darmstadt.

It boasts optimal infrastructure and is easily accessible via two motorways, a federal highway, and a commuter rail station.

The annual number of flight movements makes it the largest general aviation airport in Germany. What Frankfurt Airport is to large-scale aviation, Frankfurt-Egelsbach is to general aviation, especially business aviation. From Frankfurt-Egelsbach, all European destinations are easily and quickly accessible, 365 days a year.

When it opened in 1955, there was only a grass takeoff and landing area, later a designated grass runway. By 1956, 37,000 flight movements had already been recorded, so a paved runway was built in 1966 to accommodate approximately 100,000 flight movements per year. In the 1970s, the number of flight movements rose to over 126,000.

Today, the airfield represents a growing commercial location with around 25 companies and approximately 700 employees. It serves as a base for police helicopters of the Hessian Police, numerous aviation companies and aviation-related businesses, flight schools, and, most recently, five traditional aviation clubs. 🚴‍♂️
