The Church of the Holy Trinity (Holy Trinity) is surrounded in all directions by high building complexes, especially the Toronto Eaton Centre, a shopping mall and office complex. The original plans for the Eaton Center called for the church to be demolished, but members of the congregation successfully fought back and forced a change in the shopping mall's design. In 1972, after two years of negotiations, the church and the company settled on the issues of land swaps, road closures, and sun exposure issues.

Hiking
Holy Trinity Church opened in 1847 following a gift from an anonymous donor (later revealed to be Mary Lambert Swale of Settle, England and probably also her sister Eliza). The architect was H.B. Lane, who also designed Little Trinity (on King Street) and St George the Martyr.
