In April 2014, the Lower Austrian state government decided to build a museum for the state's art collection. The city of Krems an der Donau was defined as the location of the new state gallery in order to form the future competence center for fine art in Lower Austria in conjunction with the Krems Art Mile. There is a concentration of sights on the Krems Art Mile, so there should be something for everyone. Well done, really and in the truest sense of the word, very worth seeing.

The striking, dynamic building by the Vorarlberg architectural firm marte.marte was completed in 2019. Austrian art awaits you inside. The Lower Austrian State Gallery is located alongside other museums on the Krems Art Mile.
