A whole farmer's family from the Rhön was depicted very well here.

For many years, some of Herbert Holzheimer's works, which he holds particularly dear to his heart, have stood on the grassy verge in front of his property in Langenleiten. They enhance the area and immediately show visitors that they are in an artists' village. His figures are essentially the opening to the adjacent art garden, which runs through the entire village.

Attentive observers will notice that the figures have changed. They have been painted, and new figures have been added. The three boys immediately catch the eye. They were already standing in their place, but now they are wearing brown trousers and jackets. One of the boys' socks is torn, revealing a bloody knee. Two of the boys are wearing wooden shoes, the third leather lace-up boots. Holzheimer recreated the Fulda boys many years ago based on a model from the Rhön calendar. The original photo probably dates from 1932 and shows three boys at the Fulda market. Herbert Holzheimer enjoyed painting the figures.

A few steps further on stands a new figure. Life-size, it depicts a Rhön farmer in wooden shoes, holding a smoking pipe after work. "It's Friedrich Weber from Kleinsassen," Holzheimer recalls. He was a great fan of the art week in the artists' village in the Hessian Rhön and visited Holzheimer every day while he was exhibiting there. The bronze sculpture was erected in front of Weber's house in Kleinsassen in 1991. He stored the mold in his attic all these years. Now he has had a second cast made, this time in resin.
