The viewing platform can either be accessed at the beginning of the route via a narrow sloping path up or towards the end of the route from a path leading out of the car park. The viewing platform provides great views of Easterside Hill and Bilsdale.

Path around the platform and down Newgate Bank can be quite boggy in winter. Good views of Easterside and Hawnby Hills. Practically yards from Newgate Bank car park.
