The Romanesque church of St. Valentin on the Gentersberg above Astfeld in the Sarntal dates from the 12th or 13th century. From the outside it is kept quite simple, the small wooden tower seems worth mentioning, placed directly on the roof and accessible by a staircase on the hillside. The church is entered through a square arched door. Above is a depiction of a crucifixion group, right next to it is a picture of St. Valentine. The otherwise linear church interior is completed by a fully painted round apse. In the center a dominant depiction of Christ in the mandorla, alongside the evangelists. The pilgrimage church of St. Valentin is the oldest church in the Sarntal and is dedicated to Saint Valentine.
