Sopot Lighthouse is a picturesque building next to the Sopot Pier with an unusual history. Originally designed as a chimney, it was built in 1903 to house the boiler room of a balneological facility without spoiling the aesthetic appearance. By installing lighting, the tower was also used as a navigation mark. In 1977 it received full lighthouse status after upgrading optics and lighting to achieve a range of over 17 nautical miles. Today it has a range of 7 nautical miles. The lighthouse offers an impressive view of the Gdańsk Bay and the panorama of the Tri-City.

The lighthouse (not a Catholic church) was built in 1903-04 as part of the Balneological Institute. After reducing its luminosity, it is no longer officially considered a lighthouse, as its light only reaches 13km.
