Thierhaupten Monastery is a former Benedictine abbey in Thierhaupten in Bavaria in the diocese of Augsburg.
The monastery, dedicated to St. Peter and Paul, was founded by Duke Tassilo III of Bavaria in the 8th century. In 955 it was plundered during the Hungarian invasion. The monastery was rebuilt and refurbished by Gebhard I and Rapoto von Hohenwart. The Swabian League destroyed the monastery in 1504. The monastery was dissolved in 1803 during secularization. The monastery's property was auctioned off in April 1803, and the monastery buildings were sold to the Donauwörth mayor and innkeeper Andreas Dietrich (1756–1828). The last abbot of the monastery, Edmund Schmid († December 2, 1825), was born and worked as a priest in Thierhaupten and purchased the monastery church for the parish for 1,100 guilders in 1812. After 180 years of private, manorial use, the market town of Thierhaupten bought the desolate monastery complex in 1983 and provided the urgently needed and extensive preservation and renovation, which was jointly supported by the municipality, the Free State of Bavaria, the district of Swabia and the district of Augsburg.
