With a total area of 70 hectares, the Südpark is the largest and most visited park in Düsseldorf. The decisive factor for the popularity of the facility is certainly the variety that is offered to visitors here. The park consists of three very different parts: Volksgarten, "Vor dem Deich" and "In den Gärten".

Playgrounds and farm in the Südpark

If looking at flowers, hedges and trees is too one-sided for relaxation, you can turn to the playgrounds and meadows scattered throughout the Südpark (a total of 250,000 square meters). They are interesting for children, young people and adults.

Highlights are the large rope circus on Stoffeler Kapellenweg and the water playgrounds in the Volksgarten near Emmastraße and "Vor dem Deich" on the eastern edge of the Südpark.

      The farm in the Südpark

The Südpark is home to the only publicly accessible and year-round livestock farm in Düsseldorf. Here children can experience the rearing and care of farm animals up close. Guided tours can be offered on request. There are goats, sheep, ponies, pasture pigs, rabbits and ducks.

As the animals are becoming increasingly ill due to the increased feeding, feeding them with food brought along is prohibited. If you still want to feed them, you can buy organic hay cubes from the feed machines for a small fee. This feed does not harm the animals and they are very happy to eat them.

The farm is part of the lovingly restored farm complex - the Höfchen - in the west of the South Park. In the immediate vicinity there are also herb and vegetable gardens, an organic shop and the South Park Café. The entire complex is maintained by the workshop for adapted work.

The farm in the South Park is open Tuesday to Sunday and on public holidays. During the summer from 8 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., in the winter from 8 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. It is closed on Mondays.
