Prödel is the name of a former village in the district of Leipzig, which belonged to Markkleeberg from 1937 and in the 1970s had to give way to lignite mines. Prödel lay ahead of the north and west progressing lignite mining Zwenkau. In the years 1971/72, the inhabitants of Prödels were relocated and 1974 excavated the local situation. Some works of art from the park of the Herfurthschen Villa, including works from the school Balthasar Permosers could be saved and are now in the Museum of Applied Arts (Grassimuseum) in Leipzig.
