The wetlands and moors surrounding the two eponymous streams invite you to discover an extremely species-rich habitat, but above all, you can deeply relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature in the secluded silence of this protected biotope.
Langenbach and Trubelsbach are two near-natural mountain streams that originate between Notschrei and Trubelsmattkopf and flow together at the Muggenbrunn campsite.
The valleys of the streams have been designated as nature reserves due to their unique flora and fauna.
They are part of the European "Natura 2000" network for the conservation of biodiversity and the preservation of Europe's natural heritage.
The nature reserve consists of two sections, forming a diverse mosaic of raised bogs, transitional moors, fens, wet meadows, natterjack grasslands, and other biotopes.
The area also features nutrient-poor grasslands, pastures, and near-natural forests.
The bogs, which were used for peat cutting just a few decades ago, are of particular scientific importance due to their specific characteristics.
The following species have been recorded in the Langenbach-Trubelsbach nature reserve:[2] * Amphibians Rana temporaria (Common Frog) * Higher plants/ferns Andromeda polifolia (Heather Rose), Arnica montana (Mountain Arum), Carex canescens agg. (Gray Sedge species group), Carex echinata (Star Sedge), Carex nigra agg. (Brown Sedge species group), Carex pauciflora (Few-flowered Sedge), Carex rostrata (Beak Sedge), Cicerbita alpina (Alpine Lettuce), Dactylorhiza maculata agg. (species group Spotted Marsh Orchid), Dactylorhiza majalis (agg. species group Broad-leaved Marsh Orchid), Danthonia decumbens (Trout-tooth), Drosera rotundifolia (Round-leaved Sundew), Epilobium palustre (Marsh Willowherb), Eriophorum angustifolium (Narrow-leaved Cottongrass), Eriophorum vaginatum (Fen Cottongrass), Galium uliginosum (Fen Bedstraw), Juncus filiformis (Thread Rush), Juncus squarrosus (Squared Rush), Leontodon helveticus (Swiss Dandelion), Lycopodium clavatum (Club Moss), Montia fontana (Quercus), Nardus stricta (Nymphgrass), Parnassia palustris (Heartleaf), Pedicularis sylvatica (Wood Lousewort), Pinguicula vulgaris (Common Butterwort), Pseudorchis albida (White-tongued Buttercup), Ranunculus aconitifolius (Monkshood Buttercup), Trichophorum cespitosum agg.
