Today, the Kaiserstuhl was on the agenda again!



From the Vogelsangpass (between Bötzingen and Altvogtsburg), we moderately ascended on a beautiful path in the direction of Totenkopf. Initially, it offered great views over the Breisgau, the Freiburg Bay, and up to the Hochschwarzwald.

The Quellenweg (Sentier des sources) in Rhinau is an idyllic circular hiking trail in the Grand Ried, which leads through floodplain forests, fields, and past clear spring waters. It offers a flat, nature-close route that is ideal for a leisurely walk.

The connoisseur trail mostly runs on narrow paths in the forest and crosses the rivers Wutach and Gauchach as well as the Tränkebach several times with a variety of bridges.



The hiking trail officially begins at the Bachheim hiking parking lot, near the Dreischluchtenhalle with a resting place at the

The entrance to the hike is at Eichbergweg, past the Altes Pflanzgarten. First, I take a detour to the very scenic pavilion and the imposing Heldenkreuz and "cross" the Hugenwaldtunnel.

Back in the direction of Dettenbach, it goes past the barbecue area at the former Kienzlehof. Nothing is recognizable

An afternoon family walk on the Katharinenpfad from Bahlinger Eck (Schelinger Höhe) to Amolterer Eck. The faint hope of finding a morel (too cold at the moment 🥶) was not fulfilled. Instead, there were a few nice flowers to see.

My short detour to Ohrberg confirmed the suspicion that the Pasqueflowers

End of March - that's when the "morel time" begins.

Good reason for us to stroll leisurely through the forest, hoping to find one or two specimens of the highly prized spring edible mushrooms.

In the Kaiserstuhl, the "brown gold" likes to grow, you just need to know:

On this short round in the forest, you can't see much for all the trees. It's not uncommon to even believe you're standing in a forest.

This forest is not to be confused with the jungle of paragraphs, the forest of signs, the Hinterwald, or the Wienerwald.
