Doktorwerder Sculpture Park

The Doktorwerder is a sculpture park in the middle of the Werra. I'm actually not a big art fan, but the scenery alone is a great place to go for a walk. The art objects are well integrated and quite creative. In any case, it doesn't seem quite as pointless as some other sculpture parks. If you are in Münden, you can and should also take a tour of the Doktorwerder.

The Doktorwerder is a river island of the Werra on the outskirts of downtown Hann. Münden in southern Lower Saxony.
It lies immediately before the confluence of the Werra and Fulda to form the Weser.

Tanzwerder, Rattwerder, Blümer Werder, Doktorwerder – in Münden, not only is a lot about the three rivers, but also about the islands in them, the so-called Werder.One of them is the Doktorwerder, which is not, as some may think, named after Doctor Eisenbart.When Dr. Lachmund leased the river island in 1841, he set himself the goal of building a cold water sanatorium there. In order to implement this plan, he issued shares. But his plan was doomed to failure. The sanatorium was unable to gain a foothold and so Dr. Lachmund turned his back on Münden and headed for America. If not with his cold water sanatorium, Dr. Lachmund at least went down in the city's history with his name. The people of Münden still know the river island, which is accessible from the old Werra bridge and decorated with sculptures, as the Doktorwerder. Further changes of ownership could not change that.
