The abandoned small monastery is worth a visit, because the remains of the building, which you can climb around in, make visible the structure of an orthodox monastery. In addition, the location is simply fantastic. It is most beautiful in spring when it rises in the middle of a fantastic flower meadow.

The Palaio Monastery of Saint Nicholas (Palaio Monastiri Agiou Nikolaou) is a historic Byzantine monument dating from the 10th to 11th centuries, spectacularly built on the edge of a cliff on the Karoumbalos Plateau. The monastery sits on a plateau above the village of Trapeza.
