This artwork is a moving tribute to Andrés Parrilla Acuña, the skipper turned hero in 1978. He risked his life when the fishing boat "Tela" suffered a terrorist attack on August 16, 1978. Despite his serious injuries, Parrilla stayed on the bridge and brought the boat off shore, saving the lives of his comrades with his bravery.
This sculpture, by artist José Aradas García, is also meant to pay tribute to all the sailors killed, wounded or kidnapped off the coast of Africa. The installation is located directly in front of Andres Parrilla's house, in the plaza 'Plaza Clavijo y Fajardo'.
