The G.J. van Heekpark was created in 1918 and forms a unit with the Van Lochemsbleekpark, a former country estate. It is named after the textile manufacturer Gerrit Jan van Heek (1837-1915), who donated the park in a donation act as a place for play and relaxation. There is also a pillar in it that commemorates the founder.
