The Kristalbad is a unique nature reserve between Hengelo and Enschede. It has multiple functions: it purifies water, acts as a water buffer and is an ecological connection zone. Purified sewage water from Enschede flows via the Elsbeek to the Kristalbad, where it is further purified by reeds and basins.
