The village church of Tragnitz is picturesquely situated on the banks of the Mulde below the Leisniger Burgberg. Together with the school house and parish, both of which were newly built in the 19th century, it forms the core of the small village of Tragnitz.
The original meaning of the village church as probably the first baptismal and mission church in the area can no longer be seen today. Its oldest parts were created in the 15th century, presumably in the course of the expansion of the Tragnitz church hill in 1491.
When in 1637 the Swedes swept through the country, the Tragnitz church was also affected. From 1652, the interior of the church was renovated and refurbished, which according to the inscription on the back of the new altar was largely completed on November 19, 1659, later supplemented by an organ positive that was no longer preserved and the decorative painting by the painter Tobias Perthes (1688).
