The second longest pier on Rügen has a length of 370m. It was built in 1902 and was destroyed in December 1904 in a storm surge. In July 1912, a catastrophe occurred when 50 people crashed into the Baltic Sea and 17 died while putting on a steamer. But this misfortune has also produced something good: the DLRG was founded.
