The Maria Winkling pilgrimage chapel is located in the village of Maria im Winkl (Winkling) in the town of Steyr in Upper Austria.
During the great Enns flood in 1736, which severely devastated the lower Enns valley, a wooden statue of the Virgin Mary was washed up here in Winkling, on the Enns loop near Haidershofen, just after the town of Steyr. Because the owner could not be identified, Andreas I, Abbot of Gleink, had it placed on a pillar by the river.
