The eight meter high sculpture was erected in 2010 in the open space between the center of the lecture hall and the extension to the casino. The figure of a seated human body is composed of individual letters from eight different alphabets. It symbolizes what defines the university. The artist Jaume Plensa puts it this way: “Our body is the seat of the spirit. The university is an extension of our body. A meeting place where people and ideas, tradition and future meet for dialogue and weave the web of human knowledge.”
