    The town hall of Belfeld, called Belfort, was built in 1916. It is located in the former center of Belfeld, which before WWII was closer to the Maas than the current center. The Belfry served as a council house until 1976, after which it stood empty for a long time until catering establishments were established in 1997.
    The council house was designed by the Tegelen architect Noten and was largely built on the foundations of the former multifunctional council house from 1830. Bricks from the Tegelen clay factory Canoy-Herfkens were used for the construction of the new council house.
