The more than three-kilometer-long Rangenbach River feeds a series of pretty fish ponds here before flowing into the Hörsel River near Stedtfeld. Even without a fishing rod, it's a lovely place to linger.

If you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of the Rennsteig at the beginning, drive from Hörschel in the direction of Eisenach and then behind the sewage treatment plant on the right up the Borntal. Shortly after the junction you reach the scenic Stedtfeld ponds.
