The Vaia Front is an extremely interesting and instructive thematic itinerary between history and nature, which in 6 stages/panels correlates the Great War of 1915-18 with the Vaia storm of 2018, analyzing the impact that the two dramatic events, so different and distant yet in some aspects so similar, they have had on the ecosystem of the Plateau.

During the Great War, massive deforestation took place on the Lemerle as on the whole Plateau, both for logistics (wood for heating, for building, for having a view of the field, for laying military roads...) and for bombing and fires. 100 years later, in October 2018, violent gusts of wind from Storm Vaia still downed a large amount of trees.

The evocative titles of the topics addressed are: Evolution, Resilience, Light, Conduction, Allies, Anthropocene. The panels as well as the artistic works encountered were made with the wood of the trees felled by Vaia.

The easy ring itinerary passes by the top of Monte Lemerle, going up the forest road and descending along military paths and roads, crossing the beautiful Black Forest of Cesuna, dominated by very tall fir trees.
