The laying of the foundation stone of the reception building in 1888 enabled it to open the following year. In 1908 it was extended and, according to the press at the time, was "... in a pleasant, Gothic style, perfectly suited to the idyllic bathing conditions". A waiting room and another outbuilding with exposed timber framing were part of the complex. The facades were clad in two-tone bricks, and the roofs and dormers were richly decorated. A curved wooden staircase leads to the two upper floors. The preserved two-storey reception building, which has been listed since 1987, has since been plastered and the decorative elements largely removed. The building, which had become run-down in the meantime, was renovated by the new owner along with other architecturally insignificant outbuildings. The reception building houses a restaurant, which is also the venue for the Waldbühne cabaret theater. The furnishings that have been preserved include the ticket office, a wooden waiting bench and the original entrance door.

🚉 Bad Schwalbach Train Station – a Relic of a Bygone Era
A quiet witness to history amidst the countryside: Bad Schwalbach's historic train station exudes the charm of the old Aartal Railway, which once connected Wiesbaden with Diez. Where steam locomotives once puffed through the Taunus Mountains, quiet nostalgia now reigns. The beautifully preserved station building recalls the spa town's heyday – back then, the railway took guests directly to the healing springs.

Ideal for a short rest with a view of bygone mobility – and a place that quietly dreams that perhaps one day trains will arrive again.

🚲 Tip: The Aartal Cycle Path runs right here – perfect for pausing and taking photos.
Unfortunately, the restaurant is currently closed.
However, there is a restored carriage on the tracks at the station with vending machines for refreshments, as well as seating.
