After several years of political negotiations and a construction period from 1899 to 1902, Anholt got a fishing port, which serves as a port of refuge for the Kattegat fishermen and as a home port for Anholt's fishing boats. The ferry from Grenaa also docks here.

Anholt Rescue Station is one of 21 rescue stations operated by Denmark's Coastal Rescue Service. The station is equipped with a sea rescue boat and a rubber dinghy. At the rescue station are staffed by 15 volunteers. From 1878 to the 1930s, the sea rescue station was located at the lighthouse.

Since the end of 2014, the tourist information has been located at the port. The harbor has 250 berths, where up to 700 boats can or have to find their place in the summer months.
