The IJzerenbos is a nature reserve of 66 hectares, located east of Susteren. The area is owned by the Vereniging Natuurmonumenten.
The IJzerenbos consists of forest, interspersed with grasslands and fields. The forest is deciduous. Poplars were also planted in the past. The flora includes spotted arum, wood anemone and slender primrose. Winter rye is grown in the fields and large lion's claw and large mirror clock grow.
The animal world includes: long-eared bat, whistler, gray flycatcher and tree frog. Of the insect world can be mentioned: forest locust, blackspritdikkopje and thistle butterfly.

Very good bike path through a small forest area.
Like a small freeway, without potholes or other obstacles.
BUT the path ends abruptly at the German border!
(How else could it be?!)
Then it only goes on forest roads and single trails.

After repairs to the path in the Ijzerenbos, it is now easier to drive
