This church "is the fourth church on the same site. It [...] The church building was added to the existing tower in 1747. [...] In front of the bell tower (back of the church) is the statue of Saint John Nepomuk. He is not only considered a bridge saint, but also the patron saint of Kirrweiler winegrowers. This figure is said to have originally stood in front of the Venninger Gate. He sits enthroned on a sandstone base from 1765."
