Here in the western part of the Hörselberge is the geological natural monument "Wutha Warp". The rock layers of the former quarry, which are more than 65 meters high here, offer a wonderful view of the history of the earth 100 million years ago. Thanks to movements of the earth's crust, the rock layers that were once marine were shifted. This is the following rock sequence from top to bottom that was tectonically stressed: Upper Wellenkalk, Terebrate Zone, Middle Wellenkalk, Oolithzone and Unterer Wellenkalk. This sequence of layers formed about 240 million years ago.
