One of the first public fountains was built in the 19th century. help The appearance of this square changed the most in the 19th and 20th centuries. First of all, this was influenced by the change in the purpose of the square itself - the former market square gradually turned into a recreation area with greenery, benches, and later a fountain. Another important factor that led to the changes was the wars, during which not only the square was destroyed, but also the whole city. Unfortunately, the author of the first fountain installed in the Town Hall Square and the exact date of its installation have not been determined. The fate of the fountain is also not well known - the facts preserved in the history of the capital are that in 1908 and in 1914 the square was again redeveloped, sown with grass and fenced, and before Christmas it was used for Christmas tree trade fairs. After the Second World War, a flower garden was formed in the square.
The current fountain was built in 2007. There were various suggestions as to what the fountain should be, new or old. At first, it was even thought to design a large modern fountain with St. Christopher's sculpture in the middle, but it turned out to be too big and too noisy.
