Around 1725, the Tränkebach spring on the other side of the motorway, 500 meters as the crow flies from here, was captured and the Ludwigsbrünnchen was created. As a result, three ponds were created for fish farming in order to be able to directly cater for the hunting parties that were popular at the time. In front of you is the middle of the three ponds. All of them together are known as Egelswoog. The ponds contain carp, tench, pike and whitefish. The pond landscape in the forest is visually impaired by a route of high-voltage power lines. The Ludwigsbrünnchen can be reached via a path that branches off 80 meters further north to the east and passes under the motorway.
