There are more than 2000 km of towpaths along the Flemish waterways. In the past, these paths were used to tow ships with human or horse power. From the 19th century, ships and towage services were equipped with an engine. Since then, the function of the towpaths has changed.

Paved bike path next to the canal. Beautiful straights where you can make high speeds... But unfortunately, know that you have to share the towpath with other users here. Courtesy is in order here.
