The fact that the burial mounds are difficult to recognize after around 3000 years does not diminish their cultural value. There is not even a sign that gives the background information that is difficult to find on the Internet and that could also point out to hobby treasure hunters that the mounds have already been scientifically excavated - so damaging them by digging is no longer worthwhile. With little effort, hills could be exposed and presented in a museum with an authentic layer of grass. Seems the tax money only goes to the nearby monastery garden? It would be nice if that changed.
