The Kingfisher Barn Visitor Centre opened in 2016 to raise awareness of the area's rich wildlife and cultural heritage. There is cafe with wooden benches and a play area on site and a number of regular events hosted here.
The centre is also situated inside a perennial wildflower meadow, which means a year-round display of flowers for you and wildlife to enjoy.

Kingfisher Barn Visitor Centre is the gateway to the Stour Valley Nature Reserve. It is run in partnership between BCP Council and the Bournemouth Parks Foundation.
This true hidden gem is in Muscliff, North Bournemouth, and is popular with local residents enjoying a perfect day out for all the family.
There is free entry into Kingfisher Barn. Inside, you will learn all about the Stour Valley Nature Reserve, its smuggling past, the plants and the wildlife in the ‘A-Z exhibition’.
Even in the chilly air of autumn and winter, the landscape is stunning with rich colours and frosty fields. There is less vegetation at the riverside outside of the summer, so you’re more likely to spot the early morning otters and the bright blue flashes of Kingfishers during the day.
