Jerez Cathedral is one of the ecclesiastical buildings that has been strongly marked by the oriental influence. Although the construction's foundation stone was laid in 1695, it was built on the foundations of the largest Moorish mosque in Jerez, built in the 13th century. After the retreat of the Moors and the victory of the Europeans, construction of the cathedral began.
