The church is located on the outskirts of the city, very close to Nazareth in the district called La Punta. Originally it was located in the Ruzafa orchard but when the neighborhood was united in 1877 to the city, it was annexed to Valencia. The church was elevated to the status of a parish in 1942. It is sometimes called, somewhat pompously, the Orchard Cathedral.
