The Maria Dank Chapel stands at an altitude of around 700 meters and offers a wonderful view of the entire chain of Alps from the Wendelstein in the south-east to the Grünten in the Allgäu Alps. The chapel itself looks older than it is. The chapel was not built and consecrated until 1948. After the municipality of Degerndorf narrowly escaped an inferno in a plane crash in World War II, the municipality decided to erect a memorial chapel, provided that the war survived unscathed. The chapel was then built three years after the end of the war.
