The construction of the current church started on May 9, 1843. In order to be able to build the church on the current location, the residents of Erp demolished the old church in its entirety in 1843. The usable trusses as well as the stones were reused for the foundation as well as for the construction of the new church. The new, current church was officially inaugurated on October 16, 1844.
