The city wall is one of the most significant medieval fortifications in Brittany. Its construction began in the 13th century and was expanded and reinforced several times in the following centuries. The approximately two-kilometer-long wall with towers and gates protected the strategically important trading town on the Rance. Today, the well-preserved fortifications are among the most impressive historical testimonies of Dinan and offer wide views of the old town and the surrounding area.
