The Roman Catholic, listed parish church of St. Veit is located in Hirschaid. The church belongs to the Geisberg-Regnitztal pastoral area in the Bamberg deanery of the Bamberg archdiocese.

Behind the church there is a piston pump made from a tree trunk.

Even before the Gothic church, there was a church with a cemetery on the same site. In 1410 the church was attached to the fortified church, and 14 houses were then built on or directly next to the wall. A separate parish of St. Vitus became legally effective on September 9, 1420. In the years 1725-28, a new large church was built as a hall with simple, unstructured facades and round-arched windows, whose choir, which is closed on three sides, faces south. (Builders: Heinrich and Johann Schmitt)
The 1934 extension of the church interior by 9 meters to the north by Toni Schenk (1904-92) is hardly noticeable, especially since the baroque portal with a blown-up gable was reinserted in the north facade. The medieval choir tower has been preserved and is connected to the nave by a door.
