From here, it is worth taking a detour (approx. 800 meters) to the castle church, formerly St. Wigbert, one of the best preserved church fortifications in southern and western Germany.

Its construction history begins in the 12th century with the Romanesque church tower, whose late Gothic battlements and oriel turret tower over the three-aisled church building.

The different roof heights also show the different construction phases of the first half of the 15th century on the outside. The defensive west front with the large tracery window was completed in 1450.

Inside, the choir still contains many elements of the furnishings from the pre-Reformation period. A colorful stained glass window shows the Adoration of the Magi, the Coronation of Mary and saints. It is a unique example of stained glass on the Middle Rhine around 1400. The late Gothic vaults are decorated with magnificent keystones and painted plant ornaments. Many tombs testify to the wealth, influence and self-confidence of the former local noble families. The facade of a silent organ with rich carvings dates from the 18th century.
