This convent of the Franciscan Order was founded in 1476.
The complex has undergone numerous reforms but ended up in ruins due to looting. Many people believed that it housed great wealth and destroyed it in search of it.
Because many different heirs own the property, it has never been rebuilt. Now it is owned by the Junta de Extremadura. Hopefully, they can do something to protect it.

Ruins of a 15th century convent on the outskirts of Garrovillas de Alconétar. I find beauty in these ghostly time capsule buildings. The convent of San Antonio de Padua was founded in 1476 but was left in ruins after being looted by the residents of the town in 1843.
