Once one of the most social places on the island, Zeytinliköy is now one of the most frequently visited villages with its relatively few shops. The number of summer and winter residents is around 50-60. As the name suggests, it is surrounded by many olive trees. The village, 3 km. from the center, is one of the four protected villages. Agios-Georgios Church, the oldest church of the island, is also in this village.

Bartholomew I, the spiritual leader of 300 million Orthodox Christians around the world, was born in Zeytinli in 1940. Proclaimed Patriarch in 1991, Bartholomew visits his birthplace several times a year.
