The wild lions of WorkumFor centuries, the coat of arms of the city of Workum has been supported by two lions. They appear naïve and their theatrical pose makes us laugh. But as the Fountain of Workum, firmly on the ground and larger than life, they are no longer secondary characters, but play the leading role. At some distance from each other, they are now spraying water at each other like angry fighting cats. ‘Look after Workum’, they seem to call out to us.
