At the Bygðasafnin á Görður, at the west gable of Garðahúsin, the oldest concrete building of its kind in the country and although it was searched for elsewhere, there is a monument to the famous Jón M. Guðjónsson (1905-1994). The memorial, which is divided into three parts, was erected in 2005 on the occasion of the one hundredth anniversary of Reverend Jón's birth. It was Valdimar, Reverend Jón's son, who came closest to this work and took care of the design of the monument and its implementation. The middle part has a dark outline (silhouette) with Reverend Jón's cheeky expression, made by Valdimari (1972) and this part has, among other things, in letters: Visionary – Pioneer in accident prevention, regional museum and many other cultural issues. On the left side of the middle part there is an inscription that is certainly related to Reverend Jón's work on accident prevention: Sailor's life in the lord's hand / holiest foster ground taken from Sailor's Song by Steingrím Thorsteinsson. The boy on the right has a quote from Einar Benediktsson's poem Aldamót, and that quote touches on Jón's interest in Museums and his desire to preserve evidence of old times so that generations can be informed about the past.
